Space Telescope channel A is defective and must be replaced in February. But now, NASA received channel B rigged so that, from today back to pass data to Earth. By Thomas AE Andersen October 25, 2008 at. 10:00
Late last week began NASA to switch control of the Hubble from the faulty space shuttle columbia data channel A and channel B to the reserve, which has been in use since the telescope's launch. But during the activation of channel B arose two new problems.
Nasa now believe that they caused electrical problems, space shuttle columbia but says there was not unexpected after the electronics had been in space for 18 years without being activated. The error does not seem to have done permanent damage to Hubble.
Now they finally managed NASA technicians to reboot the critical computers on channel B system in Hubble. NASA expects to have the telescope "Wide Field and Planetary Camera-2" in the operation again Saturday. Another instrument "Advanced Camera for Surveys" expected to be operational later this week. Two new instruments
During the next servicing mission to install two new scientific instruments called "Wide Field Camera space shuttle columbia 3" space shuttle columbia and "Cosmic Origins Spectrograph." Two defective instruments, "Advanced Camera for Surveys" and "Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph," to be repaired. There must also replace a number of parts such as gyroscopes and batteries.
Service Mission is to be flown on the Space Shuttle Atlantis and NASA are working space shuttle columbia flat out to get the extra parts tested space shuttle columbia and ready for a launch in mid-February next year. This assumes, however, that the new parts are ready. Documentation
